Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi made the remarks during a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty on Thursday on the sidelines of the annual United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The two senior diplomats discussed Iran-Egypt bilateral relations and regional developments, particularly the situation in Palestine.
Araqchi emphasized the international legal and moral responsibility of all countries, especially Islamic nations, to take action to stop the genocide of the Palestinian people.
He said all countries are obligated to confront occupation, help realize the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, and support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.
Referring to the Israeli regime’s aggression against Lebanon, Syria and other regional countries, Araqchi stressed the need to strengthen coordination among regional states, including at the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to counter the Zionist regime’s expansionism and attacks on regional security and stability.
The Iranian and Egyptian foreign ministers also exchanged views on ways to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation.
