During a telephone conversation with Khalil al-Hayya, head of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, Pezeshkian congratulated him on his appointment and expressed hope that he would succeed in serving the Palestinian nation and the resilient people of the Gaza Strip.
The president also commemorated the Palestinian martyrs, particularly on the anniversary of the assassination of former Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, offering his condolences and describing his martyrdom during a visit to Iran as a "cowardly crime" committed by the Israeli regime.
Praising the patience, steadfastness and resistance of the Palestinian people in the face of Israeli atrocities, Pezeshkian said the hearts of the Iranian nation and its officials have always been with the oppressed people of Palestine, pledging that the Islamic Republic will continue to support them to the fullest extent possible.
Referring to the recent US and Israeli acts of aggression against Iranian territory and the regional situation, Pezeshkian said that despite those challenges, the Palestinian issue has retained its pivotal place in Iran's foreign policy and has never been overlooked by the country's officials, policymakers or the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
He stressed that Palestine "continues to be the foremost issue of the Muslim world."
The president reaffirmed Iran's continued support for the Palestinian people, saying the Islamic Republic "will spare no effort" to assist them, and called for greater unity, solidarity and convergence among Muslim countries to defend the interests of the Islamic Ummah.
For his part, al-Hayya honored the memory of Haniyeh, saying his martyrdom in Iran symbolized the unity of blood, destiny and shared positions of the Islamic Ummah regarding the Palestinian cause.
He praised Iran's leadership in navigating critical regional developments and described the Israeli regime as the principal source of instability and a threat to regional security despite US backing.
The Hamas leader also commended Iran's resilience in the face of threats, saying the Islamic Republic has reshaped regional equations and expressing confidence that its future achievements would benefit Iran, the region and the Muslim world.
Referring to the continuing war in Gaza and the situation in the occupied West Bank, al-Quds and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, he thanked Iran for its continued support for the Palestinian people and said Palestinians would remain committed to their cause and to the blood of their martyrs despite ongoing attacks and pressure.
He added that Hamas is conducting political negotiations in coordination with other Palestinian groups and, just as it has stood firm on the battlefield, it will not allow the Israeli regime to achieve through diplomacy what it failed to accomplish militarily.
