US Challenged by Iran’s Advanced Defense Technology: Defense Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The caretaker defense minister of Iran said the United States has been challenged by the country’s advanced defense technology.

Defense

In remarks on Sunday, Brigadier General Majid Ebn al-Reza said the progress and might of Iran’s defense industry today are the result of the wisdom and guidance of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution regarding deterrence, defense power, self-reliance, innovation, and the strengthening of defense capabilities—a path brought to fruition through the dedicated efforts of the Ministry of Defense's scientists, engineers, and staff.

He added, “Every step we take today to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities continues the legacy of the men and women who sacrificed their lives for the honor and security of this Islamic land.”

Pointing to the experience of recent conflicts, the acting minister of defense said that until recently, the military forces of the aggressor and terrorist United States, fueled by US President Donald Trump’s baseless claims, prided themselves on their weaponry and military might. “However, the reality of the battlefield demonstrated that systems such as Patriot, THAAD, and Tomahawk missiles faltered when confronted with Iran’s advanced missile and drone technologies.”

Brigadier General Ebn al-Reza added that today, the Iranian nation’s deterrence capability rests in the hands of the Ministry of Defense’s young scientists, researchers, and engineers, young people who have enhanced the country’s defense capabilities through the design and production of next-generation systems—a path that will continue, by the grace of God.”

He went on to say that while in the past, the priority was maintaining defense capabilities and sustaining production, “today our mission is to create new technologies, expand our deterrent power, and advance at the frontiers of knowledge.”

He concluded by saying that today, the enemy is less concerned about Iran’s current power than about the pace at which that power is growing.
