Iran Refutes Interference in Yemen Affairs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei stressed that Yemenis independently make decisions concerning their country, rejecting any Iranian interference in Yemen’s affairs and calling for equal maritime security for all countries.

Speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday, Baqaei said Iran has no involvement in discussions related to Yemen.

However, he added that Tehran clearly expresses its position as a country concerned about regional developments and aware that some parties seek to exploit divisions among Muslim countries to deepen disagreements.

“It is very clear that Yemenis make their own decisions,” Baqaei said, stressing that Ansarullah is independent and makes decisions based on its own interests.

He emphasized that developments in Yemen could not be discussed without considering their background, pointing to the “unjust siege” imposed on the Arab country and the Yemeni people’s efforts to secure their rights. Baqaei said that, consequently, Yemenis have taken decisions they deemed appropriate to uphold those rights.

The spokesman also noted that Yemenis had been attacked several times by the US and the Israeli regime. He said Yemen’s principled position on the genocide in Palestine has demonstrated that the Yemeni people are free-minded and place the interests of the Muslim community at the center of their concerns.

He further stressed that maritime security must be ensured for everyone and that all countries should be able to benefit from it.

“You cannot attack a country and, at the same time, unilaterally act as the guardian of maritime security,” Baqaei said, urging all countries to recognize the realities of the situation.
