Hemmati, who is in India to attend the BRICS summit, described the establishment of the NDB as the most important outcome of cooperation among BRICS member states.
He praised India’s efforts during its BRICS presidency and said Iran and India have launched good cooperation in monetary, banking and digital economy fields.
Hemmati described the BRICS summit as a major opportunity to meet officials from member states with which Iran has the most extensive monetary and banking exchanges and interactions.
On negotiations among BRICS members on monetary and financial cooperation, Hemmati said the member states can conduct trade with one another using their national currencies.
“We are seeking to establish bilateral and trilateral monetary cooperation with member states,” he said.
