Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali met with Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, where the two sides discussed the development of bilateral and multilateral economic and banking cooperation.
Jalali expressed Iran’s readiness to expand cooperation with Russia in all economic and banking fields.
He also described BRICS as a suitable framework for multilateral economic and trade cooperation among member states, noting that one of the mechanisms for confronting unilateralism, particularly in the financial and economic spheres, is BRICS, and that Iran is interested in expanding cooperation with Russia within this framework.
The Russian finance minister, for his part, confirmed the ambassador’s remarks and stated that Russia is prepared to strengthen economic and financial cooperation with Iran.
Siluanov also expressed support for Iran’s initiatives to expand cooperation, including within the BRICS framework, and noted that Russia, as a key BRICS member, would hold consultations with other members to promote Iran’s status within BRICS as well as its membership in the BRICS Development Bank.
