The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 14th International Meeting of High Representatives Responsible for Security Issues in the Russian capital.
During the talks, Baqeri emphasized the role of resistance in promoting stability in the region and called on Baghdad to adopt decisive measures to prevent Iraqi territory and airspace from being used as a source of threats against Iran.
He also stressed that the roots of such threats “must be eradicated” and said the Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared for “any active cooperation” in this regard.
Baqeri arrived in Moscow on Tuesday to participate in the international security conference. In addition to delivering a speech at the conference, the Iranian official is also scheduled to hold meetings with a number of Russian political and security officials.
Moscow is hosting the International Security Forum from May 26 to 29, designed to promote pragmatic cooperation between countries and enable a depoliticized, comprehensive discussion of the most pressing security issues.
The forum also includes the 14th International Meeting of High Representatives Responsible for Security Issues, a range of thematic sessions (academic conferences, roundtables, briefings, presentations), bilateral and multilateral meetings, and exhibitions showcasing specific areas of work by relevant Russian agencies and organizations.
