In a meeting with Federal Minister for Interior of Pakistan Mohsin Naqvi, held in Tehran on Sunday, Qalibaf said cooperation between Iran and Pakistan in political, economic, cultural and security fields should increase and accelerate compared to the past, adding that the expansion of parliamentary cooperation is also on their agenda.
Qalibaf further referred to recent regional developments and said the US-Israeli war of aggression imposed on Iran showed that the US and the Zionist regime bring nothing but evil and insecurity to all nations and countries in the region.
He noted that a number of regional governments had believed the US presence would provide security for them, but the recent events demonstrated that such a presence not only fails to create security but also lays the groundwork for insecurity.
Qalibaf stressed that the way to counter such conditions is for regional countries to build trust and cooperation among themselves and pave the way for the creation and expansion of economic ties as well as political and security cooperation.
For his part, Naqvi expressed hope that Pakistan would be able to bring the negotiations between Iran and the US to a conclusion.
He said Qalibaf has currently been entrusted with the most difficult responsibility, adding that officials in Islamabad had witnessed how he stood firm on Iran’s national interests during negotiations while simultaneously trying to resolve problems.
