US Military Presence in Region Source of Insecurity, Division: Araqchi

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The US military presence in the region fuels insecurity and division, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said.

In a meeting with Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, held in Muscat on Sunday, Araqchi appreciated Oman’s responsible approach in supporting diplomatic processes and its prudent stance regarding the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran.

Highlighting Tehran’s determination to preserve friendly relations with Oman and other countries on the southern shores of the Persian Gulf, Araqchi said the experience of the 40-day war imposed by the US and the Zionist regime showed that the US military presence in regional countries only leads to insecurity and division.

The regional states are expected to adopt constructive and responsible approaches toward establishing indigenous collective security mechanisms free from US interference, the foreign minister stated.

Following high-profile meetings in Islamabad, Araqchi has traveled to Oman as part of a three-leg tour of the region that will later take him to Russia.
