Iranian Diplomat Warns Egypt against Serving Zionist Interests

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of Iran’s Interests Section in Cairo said Iran has no objection to Egypt’s military presence in the Persian Gulf as long as it does not serve the interests of the Zionist regime.

In remarks reflected by Egyptian media outlets, Mojtaba Ferdowsipoor said Egypt is a major regional power in the Middle East and has the right to take measures it considers appropriate and necessary.

He added, however, that the important issue for Iran is that Egypt should not participate in any action that would assist the Zionist regime in a war against Iran.

The Iranian diplomat also said extensive discussions have taken place in Iran regarding Egypt’s military presence in the Persian Gulf states, ultimately leading to the conclusion that a regional deterrent power must exist in the region after the end of the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran.

Ferdowsipoor further stressed that Iran does not seek “imported security” from outside the region or foreign interference in Middle Eastern affairs.
