Araqchi held talks with Wang Yi in Beijing on Wednesday during a diplomatic visit aimed at strengthening coordination between the two countries in the face of mounting regional tensions fueled by US and Israeli actions against Iran.
The visit marks Araqchi’s first trip to China since the outbreak of the US-Israeli war of aggression on February 28, although the two foreign ministers have remained in close contact through several telephone conversations.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on regional security developments, the consequences of foreign military escalation in West Asia, and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.
China has repeatedly stressed the need for respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran while criticizing destabilizing military actions in the region. Beijing has also called for diplomatic solutions to conflicts.

The talks in Beijing were held ahead of an upcoming summit between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump, scheduled for next week in the Chinese capital.
Tensions in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz intensified after the outbreak of the US-Israeli war on Iran, with the strategic waterway becoming a focal point of international attention due to its importance for global energy shipments.
