China Voices Support for Iran’s Sovereignty at SCO Meeting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – China reaffirmed its support for Iran’s sovereignty, security, and national dignity during a meeting with a ranking Iranian official on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in Bishkek.

In a meeting on the sidelines of a session of the SCO defense ministers in Kyrgyzstan, Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Reza Talaee Nik and Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun discussed the situation concerning Iran.

The Chinese minister stated that Beijing would continue, as in the past, to support Iran in defending its sovereignty, security, and national dignity.

Dong Jun also noted that China calls for the immediate and full establishment of a ceasefire in the US-Israeli war against Iran, expresses support for all effective efforts aimed at restoring peace, and emphasizes that disputes should be resolved through political and diplomatic means.

The Chinese minister also announced readiness to continue efforts to reduce tensions and improve relations among the regional countries, with the aim of playing a constructive role in achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
