In a telephone conversation on Saturday, Araqchi and his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan talked about the latest regional developments and the consequences of the continued military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran.
The Armenian foreign minister extended his congratulations on Nowruz and expressed wishes of peace and tranquility for the people of Iran, conveying the condolences and sympathy of the Armenian government and people on the martyrdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior officials and Iranian citizens.
Mirzoyan also expressed deep sorrow over the attacks on civilians, particularly the students of Shajare Tayyebe Elementary in Iran’s southern city of Minab, and conveyed solidarity and sympathy with the families of the martyrs and the Iranian government and people.
For his part, Araqchi praised the positions and messages of sympathy from the Armenian government and people, updating his Armenian counterpart on the war crimes committed by the aggressors, egregious violations of human rights and humanitarian law, especially the attacks on schools and educational and research centers, historical and cultural sites, hospitals, critical and productive infrastructure, as well as residential areas.
Araqchi also emphasized Iran's determination to robustly defend its territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national security against military aggression by the US and the Zionist regime.
He reminded that all governments have a responsibility to condemn the lawlessness and heinous crimes perpetrated by the US-Israeli aggressors, stating that the US is the primary cause of insecurity and the existing crisis in the West Asian region and the Strait of Hormuz.
Araqchi underscored that the world must hold the US administration and the racist and genocidal regime of Israel accountable and punish them for imposing illegal war on Iran and the region.
The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.
The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.
In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
