In a message on Monday evening, Pezeshkian expressed his condolences for the martyrdom of Major General Majid Khademi.
The president noted that the late brave general was among the devoted sons of Iran who dedicated many years of his life to the battlefields of the eight-year war in the 1980s and then to the challenging fields of safeguarding national security, confronting threats, and ensuring the peace of the people of Iran.
Pezeshkian added that Major General Khademi’s martyrdom illustrates the truth that the security and independence of Islamic Iran are owed to the sacrifices and selflessness of the valiant sons who, under the most difficult circumstances, continuously strive for the dignity and tranquility of this land.
Major General Khademi was martyred on Monday morning during a terrorist attack by the American-Zionist enemy in the ongoing war of aggression.
The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of then Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.
The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.
In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
