Iranian President Highlights Growing Distrust of US

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the US’ contradictory statements and behaviors have further eroded Iran's trust in the aggressive actions of the United States, as Iran has faced military aggression twice in the midst of negotiations.

In a telephone conversation on Saturday, Pezeshkian and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif talked about the regional developments and the consequences of the US-Israeli military aggression against Iran.

In the phone call, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for the support and solidarity of the Muslim people of Pakistan with Iran in the face of US-Israeli military aggression, and appreciated the efforts of some friendly and neighboring countries, including Pakistan, to halt the imposed war.

Lamenting the use of the territory of some Muslim countries by the aggressors for attacks against Iran, Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran's defensive reaction to the origin of these attacks is natural, while the Islamic Republic of Iran regards Muslim countries as its brothers and does not wish for even a single Muslim to be harmed.

Pezeshkian warned about the nefarious intentions of the Israeli regime to expand the war to regional countries, stating that Muslim countries must ensure that their territories are not used by aggressors to attack other Muslim nations.

He pointed out the shared religious and humanitarian ties among Muslim countries, asserting that there is immense capacity among these nations to confront common threats, particularly from the aggression of the Israeli regime.

Pezeshkian also thanked Pakistan for its mediating efforts to stop the aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, noting that Iran has faced military aggression twice in the midst of diplomatic negotiations pertaining to its nuclear program.

He added that, currently, despite the claims and promises of American officials regarding a lack of attack on economic and energy infrastructure, there are clear attacks on these centers in Iran, which certainly deepens Tehran's mistrust towards the aggressive United States.

For his part, the Pakistani prime minister reiterated his country's principled stance in condemning military aggression against Iran, particularly the unequivocal condemnation of the recent attacks by the Israeli regime on Iran's economic infrastructure in the cities of Ahvaz and Isfahan, and emphasized the full solidarity of the people and government of Pakistan with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Shahbaz Sharif expressed hope that the arrangements made by the competent Iranian authorities for the safe passage of commercial vessels of certain countries, including Pakistan, through the Strait of Hormuz would continue.

The prime minister confirmed the complete atmosphere of mistrust between Iran and the United States resulting from the latter's approach, emphasizing that any dialogue must take place in a climate of trust and mutual respect.

Sharif stated that stopping military aggression and the martyrdom of Iranian officials and civilians is essential for this to occur.

He also expressed hope that he would soon be able to travel to Tehran following the conclusion of the conflicts.

The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
