Araqchi Decries US’ Paradoxical Approach

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi denounced the US administration’s contradictory stances and illogical demands, saying the paradox in the words and deeds of American officials raises doubts about their sincerity.

In a telephone conversation on Saturday, Araqchi and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan discussed the latest developments in the region and the consequences of the ongoing military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran.

Araqchi appreciated Turkey and a number of other regional countries for their efforts to end the ongoing imposed war, describing the aggressions and crimes committed by the US and the Zionist regime against Iran as the main cause of the current situation and insecurity in the region.

The top Iranian diplomat emphasized that the main problem lies in the contradictory behaviors and unreasonable demands of the American side. He noted that the inconsistent actions and statements from the American side are quite dubious and have increased skepticism regarding their deceitfulness.

For his part, Fidan referred to Turkey's approach to ending the US-Israeli war imposed against the Islamic Republic of Iran and expressed readiness to play a constructive role in resolving the current crisis.

He also stated that Iran's skepticism towards the other party is understandable, given that Iran has faced military attacks twice in the course of negotiations.

The foreign ministers of Iran and Turkey further agreed on the continuation of bilateral consultations and ongoing discussions with other countries in the region.

The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
