In a telephone conversation on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan talked about regional developments and the repercussions of the illegal war imposed by the US and the Israeli regime on the security of the region and the world.
The Iranian foreign minister elaborated on the crimes committed by aggressors against the Iranian people, particularly the attacks on schools, hospitals, and residential areas.
Araqchi emphasized Iran's determination to firmly defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, stating that Iran's actions in targeting military bases and facilities of the aggressors in regional countries are in line with its inherent right to self-defense. He expressed regret that the territories of Islamic countries in the region are being misused for the US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
Araqchi stated that the consequences of the military aggression by the US and the Zionist regime have affected regional security and stability, as well as the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The top Iranian diplomat added that the insecurity imposed on the Strait of Hormuz is a direct result of the US-Israeli military aggression, and that countries in the region and around the world should hold the perpetrators of this situation accountable for their crimes.
For his part, Fidan pointed to the ongoing impacts of the war in the region and detailed his recent consultations with officials from other countries.
The Turkish foreign minister emphasized the necessity of efforts to reduce tensions and strengthen relations between Iran and the regional countries.
The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.
The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.
In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
