Addressing a parliamentary session on Sunday, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said that, pursuant to Article 7 of Iran’s law on reciprocal action against the designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization, the armed forces of European countries are considered terrorist groups, adding that the consequences of this step would rest with the European Union.
He stressed that the EU’s irresponsible action of leveling an unfounded accusation of terrorism against the “sacred” IRGC—taken in compliance with the orders of the US president and the leaders of the Zionist regime—had accelerated Europe’s slide toward irrelevance in the future global order.
Qalibaf added that currents supporting Zionism are primarily seeking to create a media atmosphere to intimidate the Iranian people and independent countries, but noted that the Iranian nation regards the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps as part of itself.
The Europeans, by trying to strike the IRGC—which has been the biggest barrier to the spread of terrorism to Europe—have in fact shot themselves in the foot and once again, through blind obedience to the Americans, made decisions against the interests of their own people, Qalibaf warned.
He said Europe is seeking through such actions to satisfy its “master,” the United States, so that it would stop threatening their territorial integrity, but added that this master has shown it places no value on its servants.
Qalibaf further said that the IRGC is the most unique counterterrorism institution in the world, noting that, with the help of the region’s people, it toppled the rule of Daesh (ISIS or ISIL), eliminated the global danger posed by the terrorist group, and, in the fight against international terrorism, offered hundreds of martyrs, including one of its greatest and most experienced commanders, namely Lt. General Qassem Soleimani.
