An attack attributed to Ansarullah forces damaged an administrative building belonging to Saudi Aramco in Riyadh on Sunday, shattering windows across several floors of the tower in the King Abdullah Financial District, as Yemen’s military operations against Saudi targets intensify amid renewed hostilities between the two sides.
Saudi Arabia’s Energy Ministry acknowledged the incident, describing the damage as limited and confirming that no casualties had been reported.
A ministry official said the building was struck by falling projectile debris, adding that relevant authorities “promptly responded to the incident and took the necessary measures”.
Witnesses reported extensive damage to several floors of the tower, one of the tallest buildings in Riyadh’s main financial district.
One witness told AFP that the Aramco tower in the King Abdullah Financial District had been targeted, while two others independently confirmed damage to the building.
The incident followed a claim by the Saudi-led coalition that it had intercepted two missiles launched toward Riyadh by Yemeni forces.
Several loud explosions were heard across the Saudi capital earlier on Sunday, as the confrontation between Saudi Arabia and Yemen continued.
Saudi Aramco was not immediately available for comment, while Ansarullah forces had not issued an immediate statement on the reported operation.
The latest developments come amid renewed hostilities following the collapse in July of a 2022 truce that had suspended fighting in Yemen’s long-running conflict.
Since then, Yemeni forces have intensified missile and drone operations targeting Saudi airports, ports, energy facilities and military installations, expanding pressure on infrastructure considered strategically important to the kingdom.
The escalation comes amid continued Saudi military operations against Yemen, including strikes on residential areas that have caused civilian casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.
