President Urges Mosques to Promote Energy Conservation in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called on mosques across the country to help address public concerns through community-based initiatives and promote energy conservation, saying their role in encouraging efficient consumption can help protect industrial production.

Speaking during a visit to a mosque in southern Tehran on Saturday night, Pezeshkian said Iran’s 80,000 mosques represent a major capacity for resolving local problems through public participation and cooperation with the Basij.

The president said activating those centers and coordinating their efforts with cultural, religious and social institutions could help address many challenges facing communities.

Pezeshkian also urged mosques to set an example in managing fuel and energy consumption, particularly during the cold months, when disruptions to gas production have made conservation more important.

Public cooperation in reducing energy use is essential to prevent electricity and gas supplies to production industries from being cut and to avoid damage to the country’s output, the president stated.
