According to the Sistan and Balouchestan Police Information Center, Third Lieutenant Hojjat Vafakardeh was shot dead in a cowardly terrorist attack in Saravan County while leaving his home on Tuesday morning.
The attack was carried out by members of a terrorist group affiliated with the US and the Israeli regime, according to the Police.
Security forces have launched efforts to identify and arrest those responsible for the assassination.
In a separate development, security forces in Sistan and Balouchestan dealt a heavy blow to a team affiliated with the so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist group, in the southern part of the province.
The group attempted on Monday to attack Army personnel in the port city of Konarak, but the vigilance of the servicemen thwarted the attempt and enabled security forces to ambush the terrorists.
At least one member of the terrorist team has been killed in the security operation, while the remaining members fled the scene wounded, according to the report.
A security official told Tasnim that security forces would soon deliver the final blow to the terrorist teams and put an end to their presence in Sistan and Balouchestan.
