In a post on his X account, Baqaei rejected the characterization of the war as an “Iran conflict,” arguing that such terminology misleadingly portrays the aggression as a general regional dispute rather than identifying those responsible for initiating it.
“Let us not obscure the truth with misleading euphemisms. There is no such thing as ‘Iran conflict.’ This is an unlawful ‘war of aggression’ waged by the United States and Israel against Iran,” he wrote.
“The refusal to call aggression by its name is not neutrality; it is moral evasion. If we lack even the courage to identify the aggressor and name the aggression, how can we claim to have the moral courage to confront injustice, propose workable solutions, or contribute meaningfully to peace?” Baqaei asked.
“Peace cannot be built by appeasing aggressors, legitimising aggression, condemning the victim, or sacrificing fundamental principles,” the Iranian spokesman added.
Baqaei attached a screenshot of the section of a joint statement issued by Qatar and France, which referred to the “ongoing Iran conflict” while discussing regional security, freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and peace efforts in the Middle East and Africa.
