In a message released on Saturday, Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi referred to the US military’s designation of its most powerful non-nuclear bomb as the “Mother of All Bombs,” stating, “Only a savage civilization can use the sacred word mother for its heaviest bomb.”
Commenting on the public response to psychological pressure and displays of military power, the IRGC spokesperson added, “The future belongs to a nation that turns the enemy’s greatest threat into a subject of everyday humor.”
Mohebbi’s remarks came after Iranian Caretaker Defense Minister Brigadier General Majid Ebn al-Reza also responded to speculation about the possible use of the so-called “Mother of All Bombs” against Iran, dismissing the significance of the weapons’ names and destructive power.
“The names and dimensions of bombs do not matter!” Ebn al-Reza wrote in a post on his X account, warning that the consequences of US military action would instead be felt in Washington’s global standing, economy and electoral calculations.
He also stressed that Iran’s missile capabilities have changed the strategic equations, telling US officials that they would have to acknowledge Iran’s strength.
The remarks followed reports that the US military had developed new strike options involving the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB), the largest non-nuclear bomb in the US arsenal, with potential targets reportedly including Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear sites if US President Donald Trump orders a resumption of military operations.
