In comments after his third meeting with Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev on Tuesday, Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said the two countries’ longstanding relations and constructive cooperation in recent years have created a suitable foundation for expanding ties, particularly in the economic sphere.
He said the latest meeting focused mainly on energy cooperation, with the two sides holding detailed discussions on energy trade and other areas of collaboration in light of the Republic of Azerbaijan’s significant existing capacities.
Paknejad added that the agreed areas would be followed up through working groups designated by both sides in order to achieve tangible results.
The meeting was the third between Paknejad and Mustafayev, following previous meetings in Tehran in October 2024 and February 2025, when the two sides emphasized examining ways to expand energy cooperation through a joint working group.
