Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi made the remarks during a meeting with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi on Thursday on the sidelines of the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Araqchi reaffirmed Iran’s principled position of respecting the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in the region.
He also described the transformation of the territories of some regional states into locations for preparing and conducting US and Israeli military aggression as “regrettable.”
Araqchi emphasized Iran’s readiness to interact with all regional countries to promote confidence and cooperation on mechanisms for regional security that are based on the region itself.
Turning to Palestine, Araqchi described the issue as “the most important issue in the Islamic world and the world,” stressing the need for greater cooperation among Islamic countries and more serious action by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
He called for efforts to end the impunity of the Zionist regime and halt its occupation, genocide and expansionism.
The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on bilateral relations and cooperation between Iran and Jordan.
