According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, he met with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York.
Sybiha wrote afterwards that the essence of diplomacy is direct dialogue, even in difficult circumstances.
“Our discussion focused on reciprocal measures to prevent further escalation of tensions between the two countries.”
He added, “We agreed to keep existing communication channels open. We also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and Europe, as well as various avenues of ongoing peace efforts.”
