Iran’s Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri, who has traveled to Tashkent to attend the first Strategic Committee on Agricultural Cooperation and a forum of private-sector economic activists between Iran and Uzbekistan, held talks with his Uzbek counterpart, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov.
He pointed to Iran’s serious determination to expand international and regional economic and trade cooperation with Uzbekistan.
Nouri said Iranian companies have extensive capacities for investment in Uzbekistan in areas including agricultural mechanization, production of agricultural machinery and equipment, livestock breeding, fisheries and veterinary medicines.
Nouri also highlighted Iran’s capabilities in agricultural production and modern technologies, saying, “Iran is fully prepared to export chicken and eggs and improved cattle embryos to Uzbekistan, as well as to transfer modern and smart experience and technologies in the irrigation industry and agricultural drones.”
Abdurakhmonov, for his part, praised Iran’s achievements in water-resource management, combating drought and improving agricultural productivity, saying, “Iran’s model in agricultural innovations is a successful and inspiring example for developing countries.”
Referring to Uzbekistan’s priority program to modernize its agricultural sector, Abdurakhmonov said his country seeks the production of new-generation agricultural equipment and plans to increase the productivity of farms by using modern technologies and artificial intelligence.
The Uzbek minister also referred to strategic changes in his country’s cropping pattern, saying, “The large Uzbek market is awaiting Iranian products, and we seek close cooperation with Iran in the production of seeds, saplings and technical know-how for orchards and potatoes.”
