In a message posted in Arabic language on his X account, Baqaei stressed that Iran rejects the politicization and securitization of Islamic holy sites and called for vigilance over possible “false flag” operations.
“Any attack on Islamic holy sites, particularly Mecca, Medina, and Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as any threat to visitors and those residing in their vicinity, is condemnable,” he wrote.
“At the same time, the mere claim of intercepting a drone on its way to Mecca cannot constitute a basis for accusing any particular party, especially since Yemen’s Government of Change and Construction has explicitly denied this claim,” he added.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran stresses the need to prevent the politicization and securitization of the issue of Islamic holy sites and their security, and not to use it as a tool to incite discord and escalate regional tensions,” Baqaei added.
“We should not forget that our region has witnessed numerous cases of ‘false flag’ operations, particularly in recent months, aimed at diverting public attention from the crimes committed by the Zionist regime and the United States in the region and fomenting division among Islamic countries,” he noted.
“Caution and vigilance are necessary!” Baqaei underlined.
