Speaking in an interview with Lebanon’s Al-Manar television network, Major General Rezaei said continued tensions anywhere in West Asia would have political, economic and security consequences for all neighboring countries.
He described the countries of the region as “an interconnected chain,” warning that insecurity in any country would increase investment costs and undermine development opportunities elsewhere in the region.
Elaborating on Tehran’s conditions for any understanding with Washington, Rezaei identified three key issues:
1. An end to the war on various fronts across West Asia, particularly in Lebanon;
2. The withdrawal of the Israeli regime from occupied Lebanese territories;
3. An end to the war in Gaza.
Rezaei also adopted a firm position on recent developments in Lebanon, saying Iran is closely monitoring the situation in Beirut and the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital.
“Beirut and the southern Dahiyeh are our red lines, and no one has the right to move toward those areas,” he stressed.
