Speaking in a televised interview, Hossein Simayi Sarraf said more than 50,000 Iraqi students are currently studying at Iranian universities under the Ministry of Science and the Ministry of Health.

He noted that about 96 percent of those students are pursuing postgraduate degrees.

According to the minister, after returning to Iraq, the graduates will not only transfer knowledge and technology but also serve as ambassadors of culture and help strengthen the bonds between the two nations.

Simayi also highlighted the expansion of university cooperation, saying one of Iran's medical sciences universities has established a branch campus in Iraq after obtaining the necessary authorization from the Iraqi government.

The campus is now licensed to offer education in 13 academic disciplines, with Iraq providing the investment and infrastructure while the University of Tehran is responsible for academic programs and faculty members.

In addition, Simayi said around 180 memorandums of understanding have been signed between Iranian and Iraqi universities, a significant number of which have already entered the implementation phase.
