The results of the latest nationwide survey conducted by a reputable polling institute between July 14 and July 20 have drawn considerable attention.
Respondents were asked whether they agreed or disagreed with the following statement: "Iran should maintain its management and control over the Strait of Hormuz, even if doing so leads to another war with the United States."
77.5% of respondents said they agreed with the statement, while only 11% said they disagreed. Another 11.5% selected the option "Don't know."
In response to a question about the performance of Iran's Armed Forces in controlling the Strait of Hormuz, 76.6% of respondents rated their performance as good or very good, while only 6.7% described it as poor or very poor.
Respondents were also asked: "Following the recent reciprocal attacks, what policy should Iran adopt?" Only 1.7% favored accepting US conditions. Instead, a majority supported the continuation of military confrontation with the US. Support for continuing military confrontation was at least twice as high as support for negotiations and efforts to reach an agreement with the US.
In response to the question, "Which side bears the main responsibility for the failure or violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding?":
5.9% said Iran was responsible;
37.1% blamed the United States;
14.4% said Israel was responsible.
Another question asked: "If war breaks out again, to what extent do you think people will support the country?" In response, 78.8% said people would support the country to a great or very great extent.
Respondents were also asked to evaluate the performance of Iran's negotiating team. 40% rated its performance as good or very good, 32.2% rated it as poor or very poor, and 8.2% described it as average. Another 19.7% did not answer the question.
On the issue of retaliation, three-quarters of respondents (more than 75%) said they favored killing US and Israeli leaders such as Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as attacking Israeli infrastructure and US interests in the region.
Additionally, 65.1% of respondents assessed Iran's ability to carry out retaliation as high or very high, while only 14.4% believed Iran's capability in this regard was low.
