Expressing concern over recent tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei stressed the need to pursue a just resolution to the conflict.
Baqaei said Iran is deeply concerned about the recent tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen and underscored the importance of working toward a fair solution to the Yemeni crisis while preventing further insecurity and instability in the region.
He emphasized that the crisis in Yemen has no military solution, describing a return to dialogue and the full implementation of the agreed road map as the only way to end the suffering of the Yemeni people and preserve regional security and stability.
The spokesman also voiced concern over the continued blockade of Yemen and the ongoing restrictions on the entry of essential goods, fuel, and vital services, saying the blockade has fueled the humanitarian crisis and worsened the living conditions of the Yemeni people. He called for the complete removal of the restrictions and easier access to basic necessities for the country's population.
Baqaei further criticized the US' interventionist and provocative policies in the region, saying they have further complicated the situation. He stressed that regional security and stability should be ensured through dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding among the countries of the region.
Iran supports any constructive initiative aimed at advancing dialogue and achieving a political settlement to the Yemeni crisis on the basis of the agreed road map, with the goal of restoring lasting peace, security, and stability in the country, he added.
