Iran Has Ceased Implementing Islamabad MoU over US Violations, Deputy FM Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has suspended the implementation of its commitments under the Islamabad MoU after the US violated its own obligations through acts of aggression, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said.

Asked about the future of negotiations with the US, Gharibabadi said on Saturday that Iran had been engaged in talks when Washington breached its commitments under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding by launching acts of aggression.

He said the priority for Iran at present is the country's resolute defense, adding that the US has already received a response demonstrating that its military actions would not achieve their objectives.

"If they are wise, they should choose other solutions," Gharibabadi said.

The deputy foreign minister stressed that Iran's current course of action is to defend the country decisively and "teach the aggressors a lesson."

Gharibabadi added that the US has "effectively trampled on and halted all of its commitments" under the Islamabad MoU.

"We have also suspended our commitments under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding and are no longer implementing them," he stated.
