Senior cleric Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli led the prayers at the mosque on Tuesday morning.

The magnificent ceremony was attended by a massive presence of mourners, scholars, domestic and foreign figures, and pilgrims from different countries.

After the prayers were offered, the funeral procession began with mourners marching along Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) Boulevard toward the holy shrine of Hazrat Fatima Masoumeh (SA).

Aerial photos show the participation of millions of people in the farewell and funeral ceremony in Qom. Among them are delegations of Muslims mourners from countries like Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

The main funeral procession for martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution took place in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Monday, with large crowds taking to the streets from the early hours to participate in the historic ceremony.

The funeral ceremonies officially had begun on July 3, when foreign dignitaries and official delegations from across the region and beyond arrived in Tehran to pay tribute to the late Leader.

On July 4 and 5, millions of mourners attended the farewell ceremonies at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Musalla, where continuous Quran recitations and elegies created an atmosphere of profound grief and steadfast resolve.

Funeral prayers for the martyred Leader and members of his family were held at the Musalla on July 5 with the participation of senior Iranian officials.

Following Tuesday's ceremonies in Qom, funeral and tribute events will continue in the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala on Wednesday at the request of Iraqi religious and political leaders, before concluding with the burial of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad on Thursday.

Ayatollah Khamenei was martyred in a joint US-Israeli strike on Tehran on February 28, 2026, at the outset of a 40-day war of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

His assassination triggered widespread condemnation and mourning across Iran and the Axis of Resistance, with participants in the funeral ceremonies carrying red flags as a declaration that the demand for justice and retribution for the martyred Leader remains alive.
