Qalibaf Warns Iran Will Act If US, Israel Fail to Honor Commitments

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said Iran will take appropriate and proportional measures if the US and the Zionist regime fail to fulfill their commitments.

Politics

Qalibaf made the remarks on Friday at a meeting with Igor Sergeenko, the speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus, who has traveled to Tehran to attend the farewell ceremonies for martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

Expressing appreciation for Belarus’ high-level participation, Qalibaf thanked Minsk for its positions in support of Iran during the war of aggression imposed by the US and the Israeli regime, as well as for condolences and messages following the martyrdom of the late Leader.

He stressed that Iran will respond firmly to any aggression, adding that Tehran is also firmly committed to the full implementation of agreements reached. However, Qalibaf warned that if the United States and the Zionist regime fail to honor their commitments, Iran will resume and take necessary proportional measures.

He said the US has realized in the recent conflict that it cannot confront Iran militarily, adding that Israeli claims have proven to be baseless propaganda. He noted that despite extensive efforts, the adversaries failed to achieve their objectives and were ultimately forced to request a ceasefire.

Qalibaf further stated that Washington’s attempt to draw NATO and its allies into the conflict also failed, while Iran continued to demonstrate its missile capability despite enemy claims of its destruction, saying that both friends and foes now recognize the agreement as a sign of US failure.

Referring to regional developments, the Iranian Parliament speaker said Iran has combined its defensive strength with expanded regional cooperation, working closely with neighboring countries to prevent US interference in regional affairs.

He also underlined the importance of expanding cooperation with Belarus and other countries opposing unilateralism, particularly within frameworks such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Qalibaf also stressed the need to deepen political, economic, and parliamentary ties between Tehran and Minsk, congratulating Belarus on its national day.

For his part, Sergeenko conveyed condolences on behalf of the Belarusian president over the martyrdom of late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, military commanders, and civilians, saying he was instructed to personally express the solidarity of the Belarusian government and people with Iran.

He described the martyred Leader as a major political figure who made significant contributions to Iran’s development and strength, adding that his loss is deeply felt by the Iranian nation and supporters worldwide.

Condemning Israeli aggression against Iran, Sergeenko said attacks on civilians and infrastructure are unacceptable, stressing that true friendship is revealed in difficult times and reaffirming that Belarus considers Iran a friend.

He also voiced opposition to unilateralism and dominance in international affairs, expressing Minsk’s readiness to expand cooperation with Tehran across political, economic, cultural, and social fields, and to further strengthen parliamentary ties within international platforms including BRICS and the Non-Aligned Movement.
