Hormuz Strait Is Defined under Iran’s Command, Senior Diplomat Emphasizes

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs rejected a CENTCOM-led security summit in Bahrain, stressing that the Strait of Hormuz is defined under Iran’s command.

“Hormuz is defined under Iran’s command, not CENTCOM,” Kazem Gharibabadi wrote in a post on his X account early Thursday.

The military summit in Bahrain “cannot establish legal order and security for the Persian Gulf,” he added.

Regional security will be ensured through the end of interventions and the US withdrawal from the region, respecting the sovereignty of countries, and accepting new geopolitical realities, not under the military umbrella of the US, he went on to say.

CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper hosted military officials from a number of countries in Bahrain on Wednesday.
