S. Korea Emphasizes Navigation Safety in Talks with Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – South Korea’s foreign minister underscored the importance of safe maritime navigation during a telephone conversation with Iran, highlighting Seoul’s support for diplomatic efforts aimed at maintaining stability and secure shipping routes.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his South Korean counterpart Cho Hyun held a phone call on Friday morning to discuss the latest regional developments and bilateral relations.

During the conversation, Cho welcomed the Iran-US memorandum of understanding and reiterated South Korea’s support for diplomatic initiatives aimed at preserving peace and stability in West Asia, with a particular emphasis on ensuring the safety of maritime navigation.

Araqchi, for his part, briefed the South Korean minister on the latest developments in ongoing negotiations, progress in implementing agreed understandings, and related consultations.

The two ministers also reviewed bilateral, regional, and international developments, and stressed the importance of continuing political consultations and expanding cooperation across areas of mutual interest between Tehran and Seoul.
