Habib Abbasi, director general of Public Relations at the Presidential Office, confirmed on Monday that Pezeshkian will visit Pakistan tomorrow.
He said the trip is expected to last one day.
According to Abbasi, the visit is aimed at following up on agreements reached during previous bilateral exchanges, reviewing opportunities to expand economic cooperation between the two neighboring countries, and expressing the Iranian president’s appreciation for Pakistan’s role in mediation efforts between Iran and the United States.
The visit comes amid intensified diplomatic engagement involving Tehran and regional mediators following recent indirect contacts between Iran and the US.
Pakistan has played a central mediating role, alongside Qatar, in facilitating diplomacy between Tehran and Washington that ultimately led to the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on June 18.
The latest round of expert-level talks follows nearly 18 hours of intensive negotiations and consultations held in Switzerland involving the main Iranian delegation headed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf. During those meetings, the Iranian side participated in bilateral and quadrilateral consultations attended by the US delegation as well as Pakistani and Qatari mediators and presented Tehran’s positions regarding implementation of the memorandum of understanding and the conditions for entering negotiations on a final agreement.
Following the talks, Qatar and Pakistan announced in a joint statement that the parties had agreed on a 60-day roadmap toward achieving a final agreement, establishing specialized working groups, and continuing technical negotiations.
The mediators also said the process includes mechanisms for monitoring implementation, maintaining communication channels, and addressing related regional issues in support of diplomacy and de-escalation.
