In a post published on his X account on Saturday, Esmaeil Baqaei reacted to a video attached to his message showing a tense exchange during a United Nations meeting between the Zionist regime’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, and the UN special representative for children and armed conflict, Vanessa Frazier.
According to the explanation accompanying the video, the confrontation erupted after Frazier interrupted Danon’s remarks during Friday’s meeting concerning reports that Israeli soldiers and settlers had committed sexual violence against Palestinians. The exchange intensified after Danon accused UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres of unfairly targeting the Israeli regime following its inclusion last month on a UN blacklist of countries suspected of sexual violence in conflict zones.
“This shameful exhibition of arrogant defiance — against reason, law, morality, and justice — is yet another inevitable result of the absolute impunity bestowed upon an apartheid terrorist regime by its enablers. This regime continues its genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people and throughout the region with utter disregard for all civilized norms,” the Iranian spokesman said.
“It is long past time for the world to rise and confront this grave, unprecedented threat to peace and humanity,” Baqaei added.
According to a report on “conflict-related sexual violence” released by the UN Secretary General on April 21, 2026, the ongoing conflict in the region has led to numerous allegations of human rights violations, particularly concerning sexual abuse and violence against Palestinians by Israeli forces. A series of reports have emerged documenting these troubling incidents, highlighting a pattern of sexual violence that raises significant concerns regarding accountability and the treatment of detainees.
The report stated that the issue of accountability remains critical, particularly concerning the actions of Israeli authorities. Despite the documentation of sexual violence against Palestinian detainees, there has been a lack of response from Israeli authorities regarding any indictments for such crimes.
Reports indicate that patterns of sexual violence against Palestinians in detention have persisted, with documented cases involving severe forms of abuse, including rape and torture. The United Nations has verified multiple incidents of conflict-related sexual violence inflicted on both men and women, with many incidents occurring during detention and interrogation by Israeli armed forces, including the Israel Prison Service.
