IRGC Rejects Reports Claiming Assassination of Hezbollah Chief in Beirut Strike

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) dismissed as false reports claiming that Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem has been assassinated in the Israeli regime’s Sunday attack on Beirut’s southern suburb.

According to the IRGC, media reports and rumors alleging that the secretary general of Hezbollah was martyred or injured in the Israeli strike on Dahieh are completely false.

The statement said the most prominent figure martyred in the Israeli attack was Haj Ali Musa Daqduq, also known as Abu Hussein Sajed.

The statement added that Daqduq was one of Hezbollah’s senior commanders and was responsible for coordination with the Iraqi resistance during the period of the US occupation. He was arrested in Basra in 2007, but later returned to Lebanon after his release and became one of the prominent figures in the resistance movement’s command structure.

The IRGC stressed that all reports and rumors circulated regarding the assassination or injury of Sheikh Naim Qassem are denied and described them as fabricated.
