In comments at a weekly press conference on Monday, Esmaeil Baqaei said Iran’s Armed Forces always publicly declare any operation they carry out.
Asked about media reports on Iranian attacks against Saudi Arabia, he said, “In this regard, we had no announcement. Our Armed Forces always proudly announce any target they strike.”
He added that Iran has repeatedly warned about the use of “false flag operations” in the region, noting that during past regional wars, including the Gaza conflict and last year’s escalation, the Israeli regime and other actors had carried out such operations.
“We always clearly announce any action we take,” the spokesman stressed.
Addressing questions on Iraqi resistance groups, Baqaei reiterated Iran’s support for Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, saying Tehran’s position is based on respect for Iraq’s national unity and legal independence. He said resistance groups in Iraq had played a significant role in defending the country against terrorism and that their role would be remembered by regional nations.
He added that developments over the past months, particularly recent regional tensions, should serve as lessons for all countries concerned with security, warning that no nation in the region wishes to face instability imposed from outside.
Responding to remarks by the Lebanese prime minister against Iran, Baqaei said Tehran considers itself a friend of the Lebanese people and believes that preserving Lebanon’s security depends on maintaining national unity in the face of external aggression. He said any action that undermines Lebanon’s internal cohesion is not in the country’s interest.
Commenting on reports regarding Egypt allegedly sharing air defense system information with the United Arab Emirates, Baqaei said regional credibility is gained through accurate understanding of friend and foe, not through threatening a Muslim country that is itself confronting the Zionist regime. He said Iran has no problems with Egypt or any other regional state.
Deploring the misuse of regional territories, the spokesman said some countries have allowed their territory and sovereignty to be used in actions against Muslim nations. He urged regional states to remain vigilant so they do not, intentionally or unintentionally, contribute to the agendas of hostile actors.
