Speaking to Tasnim on Saturday, Alireza Salimi said the Parliament has made a definitive decision to legislate the management of the Strait of Hormuz and that the proposal would be finalized and enacted into law.
He stated that the Strait of Hormuz lies within the shared territorial domain of Iran and Oman, adding that Tehran would not allow any other country to make decisions concerning its territorial sphere.
The lawmaker also rejected remarks by US President Donald Trump and others regarding the need to keep the strait open, saying such matters are for Iran to decide and that Parliament intends to codify management of the waterway through legislation.
According to Salimi, Iran’s decisions on managing the Strait of Hormuz are neither tactical nor temporary, but rather permanent and definitive.
He explained that the proposed legislation covers multiple areas, including insurance, environmental issues, and navigation.
The MP further stated that every aspect of the Hormuz management law, from beginning to end and in full detail, would be reviewed, approved, and finalized exclusively by the Iranian Parliament.
