In a telephone conversation on Friday, Araqchi and his Omani counterpart Badr Albusaidi discussed bilateral relations as well as regional developments.
Araqchi briefed the Omani foreign minister on the latest status of the diplomatic process being pursued through mediation efforts and said that achieving a final agreement depends on the US ceasing its “excessive demands” and “changing and contradictory positions.”
He emphasized that Iran remains determined to safeguard its legitimate rights and national interests.
The Iranian foreign minister also praised Oman’s principled and responsible approach to issues related to regional peace and security, including its constructive role as a mediator in the Iran-US talks, which he said were ultimately met with US bad faith.
Araqchi also condemned the US’ threatening rhetoric against Oman and noted that the responsible measures taken by Iran and Oman to ensure safe and secure navigation through the Strait of Hormuz are based on international law and serve the interests of the global community.
Araqchi further denounced the Israeli regime’s crimes in Lebanon and Palestine, stressing the moral and legal responsibility of regional countries, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the United Nations to take urgent action to halt the Zionist regime’s aggression against Lebanon and the ongoing genocide in Palestine.
The two ministers also exchanged views on ways to expand bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation aimed at promoting confidence, peace, and stability across the region.
