Pezeshkian, Erdogan Discuss Boosting Iran-Turkey Economic Ties

During the talks on Tuesday, President Pezeshkian appreciated Turkey’s position in backing Iran following recent acts of aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime, saying Ankara had played a constructive role in supporting diplomatic initiatives and promoting stability in the region.

The Iranian president said many of the ongoing crises and conflicts in the region have been imposed on Muslim nations, stressing that while Iran remains committed to defending its sovereignty and national rights, it continues to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy to end hostilities and secure its legitimate interests.

Referring to bilateral ties, Pezeshkian called for greater efforts to remove obstacles to trade along the shared border in order to facilitate commercial interaction between the two neighboring countries.

He also commended Turkey’s cooperation in the transportation and transit sectors, particularly in road and railway connectivity, describing such collaboration as important for enhancing economic growth and mutual prosperity.

For his part, President Erdogan pointed to the longstanding historical and cultural relations between Iran and Turkey and welcomed the continuation of negotiations aimed at easing regional tensions and restoring calm.

The Turkish president also reaffirmed Ankara’s support for diplomatic solutions and said Turkey would continue its efforts to help end regional conflicts and strengthen cooperation among countries in the region.

The two leaders concluded their conversation by expressing hope for greater peace, stability, and prosperity across the Islamic world.
