Speaking with President Japarov on Tuesday on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, Pezeshkian congratulated the Kyrgyz government and nation on the Islamic holiday and described Eid al-Adha as a symbol of devotion, unity, and mutual compassion among Muslim peoples.
He said the spiritual and social lessons of the occasion provide an opportunity for Islamic countries to strengthen friendly relations, broaden regional cooperation, and deepen convergence on issues of common concern.
The Iranian president also thanked Kyrgyzstan for its opposition to a recent anti-Iran resolution at the United Nations Security Council, saying Bishkek’s position reflected the friendly nature of ties between the two countries as well as Kyrgyzstan’s independent stance on international matters.
Pezeshkian further pointed to the positive trajectory of relations between Tehran and Bishkek and called for the expansion of bilateral collaboration in political, economic, commercial, transportation, energy, and regional sectors.
He also stressed the importance of making fuller use of the capacities available through regional and international frameworks, especially the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The two presidents also reviewed the latest developments in bilateral cooperation and emphasized the continuation of consultations and joint efforts aimed at serving the shared interests of the Iranian and Kyrgyz nations.
For his part, President Japarov extended Eid greetings to the Iranian government and people and invited Pezeshkian to participate in the upcoming summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization scheduled to take place in Bishkek.
The Kyrgyz president expressed hope that the visit would contribute to the further expansion of bilateral relations and closer interaction among SCO member states.
