In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ministry said the “terrorist US army,” continuing its “illegal and unjustifiable actions” since the announcement of the ceasefire on April 8, 2026, had committed “a flagrant violation of the ceasefire in the Hormozgan region over the past 48 hours,” particularly following “multiple instances of maritime piracy against Iranian commercial vessels.”
The statement said the aggressive actions, carried out simultaneously with the ongoing diplomatic process mediated by Pakistan, once again exposed “the ill will and bad faith of the US ruling establishment” to the Iranian nation, the peoples of the region, and the international community.
It added that the developments demonstrated that “the principled approach of the Iranian nation in all three arenas of the field, the street, and diplomacy, based on deep suspicion toward the US regime, is rooted in logic and a profound understanding of its vindictive and criminal nature and conduct toward the Iranian people.”
Iran’s Foreign Ministry “strongly condemned these aggressive actions,” describing them as “a blatant violation of Paragraph 4 of Article 2 of the United Nations Charter as well as the April 8, 2026 ceasefire.”
The ministry further stressed that “the US regime bears responsibility for all consequences arising from these aggressive actions.”
“Without doubt, the Islamic Republic of Iran will leave no act of malice unanswered and will harbor not the slightest hesitation in defending Iran’s sovereignty and integrity,” the statement concluded.
