In a telephone conversation with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun on Sunday, Araqchi discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.
The two top diplomats referred to the long-standing friendly relations between Tehran and Seoul and stressed the importance of adopting a forward-looking approach to expand ties between the two countries.
Explaining the current situation in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, Araqchi said the insecurity imposed on the region and its global consequences stem from the aggressive actions of the US and the Zionist regime against Iran.
He emphasized that the perpetrators must be held accountable by the international community for their violations of international law and crimes committed against Iran.
For his part, the South Korean foreign minister reiterated Seoul’s position on the necessity of ensuring maritime security and safety in the region and across the world, expressing hope that diplomatic efforts would yield results as soon as possible.
