Iran Not to Compromise on Nuclear Rights: MP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian lawmaker considered the right to uranium enrichment to be a red line for the country, stressing that Iran will not back down from its nuclear rights.

In televised interview on Wednesday, Ebrahim Rezaei, the spokesman for the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, referred to the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding recent developments and the negotiations with the United States, saying Iran will not back down on the nuclear issue and the rights of the Iranian people, including the right to enrichment, and it adheres to its principles and red lines in negotiations.

He emphasized that Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz is another red line for the country.

Rezaei also said the enemies are trying to show Iran in a weak position by instigating discord within the country, but the reality is that all officials and institutions are united and of the same opinion in defending national interests and resisting the other side’s excessive demands.

The representative of Dashtestan in the Parliament emphasized that the strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to resist pressures and threats.

He said Iran has planned to renew its forces and enhance its defense capabilities in the period after the 40-day war and is now more prepared for any scenario.

Rezaei said the US and its agents have failed to achieve their goals in the war of aggression against Iran.

They have neither been able to weaken the will of the Iranian nation nor achieve their desired goals regarding the country's capabilities and are therefore facing more serious challenges today, he stated.

Pointing out that the Islamic Republic speaks from a position of authority, he said that in the political arena, Iran, relying on its internal power and national cohesion, is in a position where it does not see the need to grant concessions to the other side and defends the interests and rights of its people with strength.

The lawmaker also stated that the current situation is the result of the Iranian nation’s steadfastness and resistance.

On February 28, the United States and the Israeli regime launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran, during which then Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and several senior military officials were martyred.

Iranian Armed Forces responded with weeks of missile and drone strikes targeting American and Israeli military positions in the occupied territories and the Persian Gulf region, inflicting heavy damages in 100 waves of counterattacks over a period of 40 days.

Iran’s retaliation also featured the country’s closing the strategic Strait of Hormuz to vessels belonging to enemies and their allies.

The Islamic Republic then subjected the waterway to further restrictions, conditioning passage of vessels to their securing permission from relevant Iranian authorities. The latter move came after the US announced continuation of an illegal blockade it has been trying to impose on Iranian vessels and ports.
