The public relations office of the Tabas Coal Company announced on Wednesday that following a collapse at the Parvadeh mining site, two workers were trapped.
It said one of the miners was pulled out from under the rubble and was transferred to the hospital in Tabas due to injuries.
The statement added that as the second miner remained missing, search and debris removal operations continued, and after several hours of efforts, the lifeless body of the worker was found, marking the end of the rescue operation.
According to the report, the incident occurred at around 7 am local time as a result of the collapse of a coal workshop that was being extracted using a semi-mechanized method.
The Parvadeh mining area in Tabas, known as a coal hub of Iran, has long faced safety challenges in underground mining operations.
