Mahdi Akhosanaye announced that the metropolis’ first parking-shelter facility will soon be inaugurated, stating that the ‘Etemad’ (trust) parking project has been designed as a multi-purpose structure capable of serving both everyday and emergency needs.
He said the facility, with an area of about 2,600 square meters across four underground levels, will provide capacity for 275 parking spaces.
He added that under normal circumstances the complex will function as a parking facility, but in times of crisis it will accommodate several thousand people.
The mayor also pointed out that the construction of two additional parking facilities with similar shelter capabilities is on the municipality’s agenda, explaining that these complexes will likewise serve as parking areas in ordinary conditions and be converted into shelters during emergencies such as war.
